Our Story
Jessie Jones, Managing Director
From an early age, Jessie was immersed in the world of business, with her parents regularly buying, revitalizing, and selling companies. This firsthand exposure to the entrepreneurial highs and lows ignited her passion for marketing and media.
After studying media at Otago University, Jessie began her career at Fairfax Media. There, she quickly recognised the marketing challenges faced by local businesses and gained a reputation for her expertise in social media. Fairfax provided her with invaluable opportunities to connect with businesses in the region, which inspired her transition into the marketing and social media field.
In late 2015, Jessie founded McKenzie Media, named in honor of her late grandmother, Ruby McKenzie—a hardworking woman who embodied resilience and determination. Jessie’s mother shared these traits, and growing up with such strong role models instilled in her the same drive and work ethic.
In addition to her business, Jessie is also the founder of the Wanaka Business Women Facebook group, which has brought together over 900 local women in business. Through this community, Jessie has cultivated a supportive and empowering environment where businesswomen can connect, collaborate, and thrive. This initiative reflects her commitment to fostering growth not just for her clients, but for the local business community as a whole.
Passionate about helping businesses thrive, Jessie has a keen eye for design and detail, making her work particularly rewarding. Though McKenzie Media is still a growing business, Jessie is deeply grateful to be doing what she loves, collaborating with exceptional clients, and bringing brands to life every day.
